Harvest PartyNew Things

Welcome to the October Edition of Trinity Life. This month I want introduce a range of new things.

The Church Roof

In October we are looking forward to scaffolding going up on either side of the Church building. Once this is up, it will be possible for our roofing contractors, Martin-Brooks (Roofing Specialists) Ltd., to start work. The goal is to stop the water coming into the church. By installing new lead guttering and adding a down pipe on each side our roof should be able to handle the increasing rainfall in the coming years. Once our contractors look under the roof we will be able to assess with them the out-of-sight water damage. Our Architect, Ian Harris of Maber (Maber.co.uk), who also leads our Worship Group is our guide in this process. Maber, and Ian are working for us Pro Bono (i.e. without charging us). Please pray. Please pray for all those who will be working on this project. Please give thanks to God for his provision and the generosity of people here which mean that our Parochial Church Council (PCC) has enough money to pay for the planned works. What we don’t, and can’t yet, know is how much more we will need to repair the out-of-sight damaged caused by the water getting in. Pease pray.

Alpha

As I wrote in our last edition we are anticipating three Alpha courses starting this Autumn. There is still time to join!.

The Wednesday Morning Alpha is being led by Stephen Brook and myself in our church building, Youth Alpha is being led by Katie Johnson and I at Ashby Baptist Church, and Men’s Alpha is at the Cross Keys in Newbold. Michael Miles, Church Warden at St Matthew’s Worthington will be hosting the Men’s Alpha with me, and we have a few places left. Please email me (tim@trinityashby.net), or leave a message on the church office answer machine (07745 378155), if you are interested in any of these introductions to the Christian faith. You can see the full details at trinityashby.net/alpha

Harvest Party

You are warmly invited to join us for the 2017 Harvest Party for the Ashby and Breedon Churches. Including a Barn Dance, Quiet Zone and Quiz, with a Hog Roast and our own worship Band playing, I would love it if a good number of us joined our brothers and sisters from across the churches. The barn dance will be in St Helen’s church building (with the pews moved aside), and it will be an opportunity to see the newly opened Heritage Centre, and rooms. Contact Frank Bedford for tickets (£7.50 for adults and £5 for children) at one of our Sunday services.

Please have a look at our church website which has an increasing amount of information, both for members and for the public. trinityashby.net/GodReads We have planned various video’s to be shown before the services on the 1st and 3rd Sunday’s of the month encouraging us to read Christian books. If you’ve missed one you can find them on the GodReads section of the site. You can also write something of how God has changed your life by reading a particular book. The books and comments are only visible to logged-in members, so if you want to logon, or include a book, please email me: tim@trinityashby.net

trinityashby.net/children

There a range of updated pages which show the planned dates for various groups and activities. In particular, we have a page of each of the children's groups, with the dates for them to meet. You can find them at trinityashby.net/children

Facebook

Holy Trinity has the beginnings of a Facebook page. There isn’t much to see there yet, but this is the way that so many people (of all ages) get their information and so it is time for us to start making use of this means of communication. If you are on Facebook, would you consider ‘liking’ the page and reviewing Holy Trinity there? I am grateful to God for the many new things he is doing amongst us, much more than I can put here. Please pray for labourers, for people to come to faith and that we would grow in loving one another.

With love in Christ
