Holy Week, which begins on Sunday, marks the last week of Jesus' earthly life.
In the Flagstaff Family of churches we like to journey through Holy Week together, worshipping at each of the Family's churches as we accompany Jesus through his final days.
On Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday of Holy Week we hold a service of 'Compline' or 'Night Prayer', a service originally prayed by monks, which is a quiet, reflective service to look back on the day that has been and to ask for God's presence with us overnight. It is a beautiful service when little is demanded of you; a space simply to be in God's presence.
On Thursday we remember the last supper Jesus had with his friends, and share bread and wine together.
On Friday we remember Jesus' death. In the morning 'A Passion for Ashby' sees us walking through the streets of Ashby following a cross, pausing to hear & reflect on part of the story of Jesus' death. It is a simple act of bearing witness to Jesus' suffering. The services that take place later in the day at Breedon and St Helen's will trace that same story.
Finally, on Easter morning, we celebrate the truth that death was not the end for Jesus, that he rose again to new life, and so forged the way for all who turn to him as Saviour to receive new life, too.
