SHARP Appeal
Throughout December, you can donate to our Holy Trinity Ashby SHARP (Shelter Housing Advice and Research Project) Appeal. Donate in church using cash, card, or online via our SHARP Appeal webpage. You can also add a Christmas message to the tree in the church building.
SHARP (Shelter Housing and Research Project) is a registered local charity whose primary purpose is to prevent homelessness in Leicester and Leicestershire. SHARP doesn't receive income from the Government but relies on donations. SHARP have asked us to consider making donations this Christmas which will provide financial support for their work as they look to find homes for homeless people, get poor houses improved and help clients who have mental health problems. Every Christmas, we remember how Mary and Joseph travelled to Bethlehem to discover there was no room at the inn. Fortunately, the inn keeper took pity on their plight and gave them temporary accommodation in the stable at the inn. Our Lord Jesus entered the world as a homeless baby dependent on the charity of the inn keeper.
Sadly, there is an increasing number of people in Leicestershire who find themselves living in unsuitable accommodation, or at risk of becoming homeless or indeed homeless. The Leicester Shelter Housing Advice and Research Project (SHARP) was supported by Holy Trinity as a Christmas charity for some years and, this year, Trinity is reviving that “tradition”.
Cards have been produced for people to write a Christmas greeting (why not include a relevant verse from scripture) on the reverse and to make a donation to SHARP – either by cash or card. Please place cash payments in the wooden collection boxes. Card payments can be made using the card reader adjacent to the font.
Please record the donation made on the sheet adjacent to the SHARP tree. No personal details are required, just the date, amount of the donation and whether by cash or card. Our treasurer will then be able to total all the donations made (each donation will automatically be banked in our General Fund). Then, simply place the card on the SHARP Christmas tree on the ramp side of church.
The total amount of donations recorded will be transferred from our General Fund to SHARP.
