Re-Enchanting Our World: A CS Lewis and Tolkien Quiet Day

We'll explore how we can be inspired by the stories and other writings of CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien, alongside Scripture, to recover wonder and beauty, mystery and longing in these increasingly technological and materialistic times. There will be plenty of opportunity for prayer, and time to attend to those glimpses of eternity that are given to us, both indoors and out. The day will be led by Andy Swinford. Andy is the author of 'The Practice of Joy: insights from the stories of C S Lewis' and co-author of 'The Christian Tradition in English Literature'.

Andy delivers multimedia presentations and online classes about C S Lewis, as well as leading retreats on the spiritual enrichment to be gained from the writings of the two friends Lewis and Tolkien. If you're worried about knowing the books, please don't! The day's content will be accessible to all. You don't need to have read the books, and there is no prior reading required - though there will be spoilers!

Andy says most people who attend his events have read very little and might only have seen one of the films, so don't be put off for that reason. If you'd like to attend, please email the St Helen's Parish Office
